Cincinnati is going big on FIFA World Cup bid. Isn't it refreshing?

We can be a cynical bunch around here, and rightfully so.

Our pro teams consistently don't win. We often get passed up by peer cities for major events such as the NCAA Tournament and big conventions. Our leaders are masterful at infighting over projects.

But something special is happening with the effort to be one of the host cities for the 2026 World Cup, arguably the most popular global sporting event. 

Our leaders are going all out to get this.

Big thinking.

Big city mentality.

We take a backseat to no one.

Nothing is going to hold us back.

That's the attitude our corporate and political leaders are taking into Friday, when Cincinnati will roll out the red carpet for FIFA officials.
